Quakers finish with second straight tie in NCAC contest

October 18, 2005
SPRINGFIELD, Ohio —
A late second half goal Wednesday evening gave the Earlham College men's soccer team its second straight tie as the Quakers battled Wittenberg University to a 1-1 deadlock in a North Coast Athletic Conference match.

After Wittenberg scored at 67:15 to take a 1-0 lead, Earlham's Victor Anciano (San Antonio-Altos, Venezuela/Armand Hammer) found the net for his 11th goal of the fall at 72:10 to set a first-year scoring record. The previous mark of 10 in a season was set by Luke Uetrecht in 1983. Junior Atiq Zamani (Bloomington, IN/North) had the assist on Anciano's goal.

Earlham junior goalkeeper Jon O'Neil (West Lafayette, IN/West Lafayette) had eight saves including three in the two overtime sessions.

Earlham (4-9-2, 1-3-2) is on the road Saturday against Kenyon College. The NCAC match gets underway at 1 p.m. Box score
