RICHMOND, Ind. — The Earlham College men's soccer team opened its season Friday with a 1-0 victory over Principia College on Matlack Field in the first round of the Raven-Quaker Classic. “It was a typical early season game,” Earlham Head Coach Roy Messer said. “It was far from beautiful, but winning is what you set out to do.”

Senior goalkeeper Jon O'Neil (West Lafayette, IN/West Lafayette) had three saves as he recorded the fifth shoutout of his career. Principia out shot the Quakers 6-3.

Earlham (1-0) entertains Thomas More on Sept. 2 at 3 p.m. Box Score.
