Quakers Drop First Match of the Season

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. — All of the scoring was in the second half on Saturday as the Earlham College men’s soccer team fell to Rose-Hulman 2-1.
Junior Nhlanhla Maduna (Ezulwini, Swaziland/Li Po Chun) scored Earlham’s goal at 74:00 to tie the contest at 1-1 with an assist from junior Matt Smith (Columbia Crossroads, PA/George) before the Engineers added the game-winner at 88:42.
Senior goalkeeper Jon O’Neil (West Lafayette, IN/West Lafayette) had two saves for Earlham as Rose-Hulman out shot the Quakers 8-5.
Earlham (2-1) is at DePauw University today. The non-conference match gets underway at 3 p.m. Box Score.
