For Immediate Release
Oct. 25, 2006
RICHMOND, Ind. — A pair of second half goals proved to be too much for the Earlham College men’s soccer team to overcome on Wednesday as the Quakers fell to Wittenberg University 2-1 on Matlack Field in a North Coast Athletic Conference match.
Wittenberg (8-7-2, 4-3-1) scored at 48:30 and 63:14 to take a 2-0 lead.
The Quakers responded quickly to the second tally as senior Liam Roche (North Vernon, IN/Jennings County) found the net at 68:14 with an assist from first-year Mamary Diarra (Harare, Zimbabwe/International).
Senior goalkeeper Jon O’Neil (West Lafayette, IN/West Lafayette) had seven saves for Earlham as the Quakers were outshot 14-5.
Earlham (6-11, 1-7) finishes the season at home against Kenyon College on Saturday. The NCAC contest gets underway at 4 p.m. Box Score.
