Quakers Post First Win of the Season

RICHMOND, Ind. — After opening the season with a loss on Friday, the Earlham College men’s soccer team bounced back Saturday with a 5-2 victory over Spalding University on Matlack Field in the El Rodeo Raven-Quaker Classic.
Earlham scored all five of its goals in the first half to lead 5-1 at intermission with junior Victor Anciano (San Antonio-Altos, Venezuela/Armand Hammer) scoring three times. Sophomores Omar Dreidi (Ramallah, Palestine/International) and Mamary Diarra (Harare, Zimbabwe/International) had the other goals.
Dreidi, senior Will Navec (Ft. Thomas, KY/Seven Hills), sophomore Will Katz (Seattle, WA/Garfield), senior Nhlanhla Maduna (Ezulwini, Swaziland/Li Po Chun) and first-year Jonah Kreniske (New York, NY/Manhattan Center for Science & Math) were all credited with assists.
The Quakers led 14-7 in shots and had five corner kicks, while Spalding managed just two. Kreniske had two saves in his first appearance in goal for the Quakers.
Earlham (1-1) plays at home next Saturday against Rose-Hulman. The non-conference match begins at 3 p.m. Box score.
