Quakers Face No. 21 DePauw University

RICHMOND, Ind. — A double overtime goal by No. 21 DePauw University on Sunday was the difference as the Earlham College men’s soccer team dropped a 3-2 decision on Matlack Field.
The Quakers got on the scoreboard first with an unassisted goal by first-year Bannett Asingura (Mbarara, Uganda/United World College) at 13:15. Late in the opening period, the Tigers tied the score at 1-1.
Earlham led 2-1 at intermission after junior Victor Anciano (San Antonio-Altos, Venezuela/Armand Hammer) scored on a penalty kick at 44:24.
In the second half, DePauw tied the contest again with a penalty kick at 67:02. The Tigers scored the game-winner at 1:07:38 in the second overtime to end the contest.
DePauw had a 14-13 advantage in shots and a 15-5 edge in corner kicks.
First-year goalkeeper Kyle Thompson (Elmhurst, IL/York Community) had six saves for Earlham.
Earlham (1-3) entertains Anderson University on Wednesday. The non-conference contest begins at 3 p.m. Box score.
