Sloan Named MVP for 2007

RICHMOND, Ind. — Earlham College senior Chris Sloan was named the Charlie Matlack Most Valuable Player for men’s soccer on Sunday.
There were three other team awards handed out by Earlham Head Coach Roy Messer. First-year Bannett Asingura (Mbarara, Uganda/United World College) was selected as the Offensive MVP, while senior David Hibbard-Rode (Minneapolis, MN/South) was chosen as the Defensive MVP for the third year in a row. The Lauren DeCou Most Valuable First Year was goalie Kyle Thompson (Elmhurst, IL/York Community).
Sloan (Bethesda, MD/Sidwell Friends) received All-North Coast Athletic Conference Honorable Mention after scoring four goals this season.
Asingura was named to the All-NCAC Second Team after leading the Quakers in scoring with 10 goals and six assists. He was also honored as NCAC Player of the Week late in the season. He also scored four goals and added an assist in a 5-0 win over Denison.
Hibbard-Rode started all 18 games for the Quakers and scored against Kenyon College. Thompson was in goal for the Quakers 13 times this season and posted two shutouts.
