Quakers Fall to Wilmington 6-3

RICHMOND, Ind. — The Earlham College men’s tennis team dropped a non-conference match 6-3 to Wilmington College Tuesday on the Trueblood Courts in the Athletics and Wellness Center.
The Quakers picked up two wins in singles and one match in doubles.
First-year Michael Von Vogt (South Bristol, ME/Lincoln Academy) won 6-0, 6-2 over Joe Culler at No. 2 singles, while first-year Josue Rivera (Princeton, NJ/Pennington) beat Matt Fickle 6-4, 6-2 at No. 4 singles.
In doubles action, the Quakers won at No. 3 with senior Sergey Grechukhin (Nizny Novgorod, Russia/United World College) and first-year Colin Swihart (Midland, MI/Midland) beating Jake Crabtree and Drew Sendek 8-6.
“The three victories were nice,” Earlham Head Coach Justin Carrier said. “I was especially pleased that Michael Von Vogt played to the high level we know he can reach.”
Earlham (0-3) doesn’t return to the court until playing its first road contest of the season at Rose-Hulman on Saturday, March 22. The match is scheduled for 10 a.m. Scoresheet.
