Quakers Win Two Events at Anderson Invitational

ANDERSON, Ind. — A pair of first-place finishes highlighted Saturday’s performances for the Earlham College men’s indoor track team in the Anderson Invitational.

Senior Mwaura Wambiga (Nairobu, Kenya/Li Po Chun) won with a leap of 38’4¾”in the long jump, while first-year Austin Manahan (Orlando, FL/University) claimed the top finish in the triple jump with a distance of 20’3 ¾.”

Sophomore Chris Shaw (Anderson, IN/Pendleton Heights) set a school record with a toss of 44’1¾” in the weight throw to finish in fourth.

Earlham’s other participants to score Saturday were:
• Sophomore Evan Fackler (Shelby, OH/Plymouth), second, 5,000, 16:12.80.
• Sophomore Bo Braun (Nutley, NJ/Nutley), third, 400, 51.71.
• Senior Mark Boylan (Holliston, MA/Holliston), third, 1,000, 2:46.86.
• 1,600 relay team of first-year Lenden Bowsman (New Castle, IN/New Castle), sophomore Will Katz (Seattle, WA/Garfield), junior James Haley (Bloomington, IN/South) and Braun, third, 3:39.94.
• Distance Medley relay team of first-year John White (Ann Arbor, MI/Huron), first-year Jonah Kreniske (New York, NY/Martin Luther King), first-year Andrew Vedder (Ridgewood, NY/Ridgewood) and Boylan, third, 11:41.66.
• First-year Chad Wertman (Holland, IN/Southridge), third, shot put, 45’10½.”
• Shaw, fifth, shot put, 44’0.”

The Quakers finished fourth of seven teams, while Taylor University won the meet.

Next up for Earlham is the DePauw University Classic next Saturday. The meet is at 11 a.m.
