Quakers Finish Third at Hanover Invitational

HANOVER, Ind. The Earlham College men’s track team had five champions during Saturday’s Hanover Invitational as the Quakers finished third out of six squads.

Sophomore Chris Shaw (Anderson, IN/Pendleton Heights) led the way for the Quakers winning the discus (152’4¼”), taking second in the shot put (46’2¼”) and finishing seventh with a school record toss in the hammer (126’4”).

Sophomore Bo Braun (Nutley, NJ/Nutley) won the 400 meters with a time of 50.86 seconds, while anchoring the 1,600-meter relay team that was second in 3:31.47. First-years Lenden Bowsman (New Castle, IN/New Castle) and Ben Randall (Milford, OH/Milford) along with sophomore Will Katz (Seattle, WA/Garfield) were on the relay team with Braun.

Senior Mark Boylan (Holliston, MA/Holliston) ran a 16:02.59 to win the 5,000 meters. Sophomore Malick Keita (Bamako, Mali/Lycee Francais Liberte) was victorious in the triple jump with a distance of 40’7¾” and first-year Chad Wertman (Holland, IN/Southridge) had a toss of 47’2½” to win the shot put.

• Junior James Haley (Bloomington IN/South), third, 800, 2:08.52.
• Sophomore Evan Fackler (Shelby, OH/Plymouth), fourth, 5,000, 16:35.70.
• Sophomore John White (Ann Arbor, MI/Huron), fourth, 3,000 steeplechase, 10:41.75.
• Senior Nick Welsh (Muncie, IN/Wes Del), fourth, javelin, conversion unavailable.
• First-year Austin Manahan (Orlando, FL/University), fifth, triple jump, conversion unavailable.
• Braun, sixth, 200, 24.08.
• Haley, sixth, 1,500, 4:23.23.
• Keita, sixth, high jump, conversion unavailable.
• Katz, seventh, 200, 24.38.
• Bowsman, seventh, 100, 12.26.
• Randall, seventh, 400, 54.32.
• Bowsman, eighth, 200, 24.52.
• First-year Cyrus Dudgeon (Cambridge, MA/Rindge and Latin), eighth, 100, 12.91.

The next meet for the Quakers is the Anderson Invitational next Saturday. The event gets underway at 11 a.m.
