Quakers Win Nine Events in Earlham Invitational

RICHMOND, Ind. — The Earlham College men’s track team won nine of 15 events Saturday afternoon at Darrell Beane Stadium as the Quakers won the Earlham Invitational.

Sophomore Bo Braun (Nutley, NJ/Nutley) led the Quakers with one individual victory and two more as the anchor of the 400-meter and 1,600-meter relay teams. “Our men did a great job today with some clutch performances by sophomores Bo Braun and Chris Shaw,” Earlham Head Coach Nick Johnson said.

Braun won the 200 meters in 23.56 seconds. The 400-meter relay team of first-year Lenden Bowsman (New Castle, IN/New Castle), sophomore Will Katz (Seattle, WA/Garfield), first-year Ben Randall (Milford, OH/Milford) and Braun was first with a time of 45.20 seconds. The same group grabbed the top spot in the 1,600-meter relay in 3:55.24. Braun was also second in the 400 meters in 50.49 seconds.

Shaw (Anderson, IN/Pendleton Heights) won the discus with a distance of 148’9” and took third in the shot put with a 46’5¼” toss.

Senior Nick Welsh (Muncie, IN/Wes Del) won a pair of events. Welsh started his day with victory in the javelin with a distance of 139’11” and ended the afternoon by winning the hammer with a 126’0” throw.

Senior Mark Boylan (Holliston, MA/Holliston), first-year Austin Manahan (Orlando, FL/University) and first-year Ishmail Daoh (Freetown, Sierre Leone/Armand Hammer UWC) were the other winners for the Quakers.

Boylan took the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 10:35.51. Manahan won the triple jump with a distance of 39’ 1¼.” Daoh was first in the long jump with a 16’10” leap.

First-year Adam Rozich (Eau Claire, WI/Altoona), fourth, 1,500, 4:55.87.
First-year Cyrus Dudgeon (Cambridge, MA/Rindge and Latin), fifth, 100, 12.84.
Wertman, fifth, discus, 103’1.”

Next up for the Quakers is the North Coast Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships at Ohio Wesleyan University on May 1-2.
