Shaw Wins NCAC Discus Title to Lead Quakers

DELAWARE, Ohio — Sophomore Chris Shaw won the discus on Thursday as he led the Earlham College men’s track team during the first day of the North Coast Athletic Conference Outdoor Track Championships at Ohio Wesleyan University.
Shaw (Anderson, IN/Pendleton Heights) won the discus with a distance of 153’10” and took third in the shot put with a 46’11¾” toss. Shaw earned All-NCAC honors in both events with the top three finishes.
First-year Chad Wertman (Holland, IN/Southridge) was also All-NCAC with a throw of 48’8” to finish second in the shot put.
Sophomore Bo Braun (Nutley, NJ/Nutley) advanced to the finals in the 400-meter dash with the fifth fastest time of 50.40 seconds.
The two-day affair concludes on Friday with the field events beginning at 10 a.m.— EC —
