Braun Leads Quakers On Final Day of NCAC Meet

DELAWARE, Ohio — Sophomore Bo Braun led the Earlham College men’s track team on Friday in the North Coast Athletic Conference Outdoor Track Championships at Ohio Wesleyan University.

Braun (Nutley, NJ/Nutley) was second in the 400-meter dash with a time of 49.52 seconds to pick up All-NCAC honors with a top three finish. “It was a great performance,” Earlham Head Coach Nick Johnson said. “He’s made dramatic improvement over the last two seasons.”

Senior Nick Welsh (Muncie, IN/Wes-Del) was the other individual to score for the Quakers on Friday. Welsh had a toss of 120’11” to finish eighth in the hammer.

The Quakers also scored in two relays. The 1,600-meter relay team of first-year Lenden Bowsman (New Castle, IN/New Castle), sophomore Will Katz (Seattle, WA/Garfield), first-year Ben Randall (Milford, OH/Milford) and Braun was fourth with a time of 3:27.03. The same group was seventh in the 400-meter relay in 45.17 seconds.

Thursday, sophomore Chris Shaw (Anderson, IN/Pendleton Heights) won the discus with a distance of 153’10” and took third in the shot put with a 46’11¾” toss. First-year Chad Wertman (Holland, IN/Southridge) had a throw of 48’8” to finish second in the shot put.

Ohio Wesleyan won the meet with the Quakers finishing eighth of 10 teams.
