for Quakers

WOOSTER,
Ohio — A four-game stretch of road games
for the Earlham College women’s
basketball team ended Saturday with a 68-47 loss to the College
of Wooster at Timken Gymnasium.
Earlham started the North Coast Athletic Conference game an
early lead. First-year Tasha Merrill (Cedar Grove, IN/Franklin
County) gave the Quakers 3-1 advantage with 18:01 left in the
first half. Moments later the Scots tied the game at 3-3 before
sophomore Chelsea Caywood (Richmond, IN/Richmond) nailed a
3-pointer to put the Quakers in front 6-3 with 17:15 on the
clock.
Wooster, however, took the lead for good at 7-6 with 15:33
remaining in the first half. The Scots out scored the Quakers
by 17 points the rest of the half to lead 34-16 at intermission.
The Scots would maintain their advantage in the second half
and put the game away.
Sophomore Samantha Lurie (Lansing, MI/J.W. Sexton) led the
Quakers with 12 points off the bench, while Merrill added 11
points and five rebounds.
First-year Janee’ Covington (Indianapolis,
IN/Arlington) added six points, while Caywood and senior
Lauren Herrmann
(Bloomington, IN/North) tossed in five points each. First-year
Tracy Hill (Copley, OH/Cuyahoga Valley Christian) grabbed five
rebounds.
Earlham (4-15, 3-7) is back home Tuesday on Schuckman Court
in the Athletics and Wellness Center against Ohio Wesleyan
University. The NCAC contest begins at 7:30 p.m.
