RENSSELAER,
Ind. — Earlham College junior Guin
Summerton scored a career-high 23 points on Tuesday
as St. Joseph’s College defeated the Quakers
91-50.
“They are a really strong Division II program
and it was a huge learning experience for us,” Earlham
head coach Liana Coutts said of the 3-0 Pumas.
Summerton (Williams, IN/Shoals) made all eight of her
free throws en route to breaking her personal mark of
22 points that she had last season against Wittenberg
University.
The Quakers were 17
of 23 from the line on Tuesday after combining for
17 attempts in the other two games this
season. “We got to the free throw line and that
was good for us,” Coutts said.
Sophomore Samantha
Lurie (Lansing, MI/J.W. Sexton) added nine points for
the Quakers, while sophomore Chelsea Caywood (Richmond,
IN/Richmond) grabbed nine rebounds.
Earlham (0-3) is back on the road on Saturday as the
Quakers visit The College of Mount St. Joseph. The
non-conference contest begins at 2 p.m. Box
score.
