Quakers finish 2005 against Wisconsin-Platteville

RICHMOND,
Ind. — The Earlham College women's basketball
squad ended the 2005 portion of its basketball schedule
Thursday with a 63-52 loss to Wisconsin-Platteville on Schuckman
Court in the Athletics and Wellness Center.
The Quakers led several times during
the first half, but the contest was tied 23-23 at intermission.
Early in the second half, the teams traded baskets and the
score was tied
29-29 with 15:52 remaining in the contest.
The Pioneers (6-4) took the lead
for good 32-29 with at 3-pointer at the 15:37 mark. UW-Platteville
widened its margin over the next few minutes, but the Quakers
closed the gap to 41-40 with 10:02 left. The Pioneers, however,
took command after that and put the game away.
First-year Janee' Covington (Indianapolis,
IN/Arlington) led the Quakers with 19 points and six assists.
Sophomore Samantha Lurie (Lansing, MI/J.W. Sexton) added 12
points.
First-year LeShea Orr (Dayton,
OH/Jefferson) tossed in
seven points, while grabbing six rebounds. Another first-year,
Tasha Merrill (Cedar Grove,
IN/Franklin County) finished with six points and six rebounds.
Sophomore Chelsea Caywood (Richmond, IN/Richmond) contributed
six points and five rebounds.
Earlham returns to action on Jan.
6, 2006 as Hiram College comes to the Athletics
and Wellness Center. The North Coast Athletic Conference game
begins at 5:30 p.m. Box score.
