Quakers Fall to Wittenberg in NCAC Contest

RICHMOND, Ind. — The Earlham College women’s basketball team had two players in double figures on Wednesday as the Quakers dropped an 80-52 decision to Wittenberg University on Schuckman Court in the Athletics and Wellness Center.
Senior Whitney McBurrows (Lansing, MI/J.W. Sexton) led the Quakers with 17 points, while sophomore Jayana Sims (Indianapolis, IN/Ben Davis) tossed in 11 points with five assists.
Senior Samantha Lurie (Lansing, MI/J.W. Sexton) added eight points with junior Tracy Hill (Copley, OH/Cuyahoga Valley Christian) contributing seven points and a team-high five rebounds.
Earlham fell behind 6-0 early in the North Coast Athletic Conference contest before the Quakers caught the Tigers at 12-11 with 14:26 left in the first half.
Wittenberg (7-7, 6-1) responded with a rally of its own as the Tigers led 38-23 at intermission.
In the second half, the Quakers couldn’t get any closer than 41-28 with 17:18 left to play.
The Quakers (2-14, 1-7) travel to the College of Wooster for a contest on Saturday. The NCAC game starts at 3 p.m. Box score.
