For Immediate Release:
Feb. 24, 2008

RICHMOND, Ind. — Earlham College junior Tasha Merrill was honored by the North Coast Athletic Conference on Sunday as the Player of the Week for women’s basketball after leading the Quakers to a win and securing a trip to the conference tournament.

Merrill (Cedar Grove, IN/Franklin County) led the Quakers with 20 points against the College of Wooster in a 64-55 victory on Saturday, Feb. 23. She also contributed four rebounds, two blocks, an assist and made 8-of-9 free throws in the win. Earlier in the week, she had seven points in a loss at Denison.

As a result of Saturday’s win, the NCAC had to break a three-way tie for seventh place between Earlham (4-21, 3-13), Wooster (6-19, 3-13) and Hiram College (5-19, 3-13). Through the NCAC tiebreaking procedures the Earlham victory put the Quakers in the eight-team conference tournament.

The No. 8 seeded Quakers visit regular season NCAC champion Kenyon College (19-6, 16-0) on Tuesday. The contest gets underway at 8 p.m.
