Quakers Play Non-Conference Game at Heidelberg

TIFFIN, Ohio — The Earlham College women’s basketball team fell behind early on Wednesday night and dropped a 78-50 decision to Heidelberg College.
After the Quakers led 4-2 at the 18:18 mark of the first half, Heidelberg scored the next 12 points to build a 14-4 advantage with 13:03 remaining in the opening period.
Heidelberg (4-4) eventually worked its way to a 41-23 lead at intermission. In the second half, Heidelberg added to its lead with the Quakers only able to get as close as 46-29 with 16:28 left in the contest.
Junior Tasha Merrill (Cedar Grove, IN/Franklin County) and sophomore Jayana Sims (Indianapolis, IN/Ben Davis) led the Quakers with 10 points each with Sims adding four assists.
Junior Tracy Hill (Copley, OH/Cuyahoga Valley Christian) scored eight points, while grabbing a team-high 11 rebounds. Senior Samantha Lurie (Lansing, MI/J.W. Sexton) also tossed in eight points.
Senior Whitney McBurrows (Lansing, MI/J.W. Sexton) and sophomore Shontavia Davis (Indianapolis, IN/Warren Central) each finished with seven points.
Earlham (2-7) returns home to face Ohio Northern University on Saturday. The non-conference contest on Schuckman Court in the Athletics and Wellness Center gets underway at 2 p.m. Box score.
