September 4,
2005
DANVILLE, Ky. — Earlham’s field hockey team
ended its visit to Kentucky on Sunday with a 4-0 loss at Centre
College.
It was the second match in two days. “We played extremely
tired,” Earlham coach Jill Butcher said. “We just don’t
know what we a capable of doing yet.”
Centre executed in transition to gain its
advantage as the Colonels out shot the Quakers 34-3. “Centre capitalized on everything,” Butcher
said.
The Quakers used both goalies. Anna Benfield
(Takoma Park, MD/Montgomery Blair) had 10 saves, while Katherine
McDonough (Louisville, KY/St. Francis) had 13. “Both
of them did a nice job in goal,” Butcher said.
Next up for the Quakers (0-2) is at trip to Wooster on Saturday,
