Oct. 14, 2006
RICHMOND, Ind. — Three goals in the second half provided the Earlham College field hockey team with a boost, but it wasn’t enough as the Quakers lost 5-3 to Oberlin College on Comstock Field.
Oberlin led 2-0 at intermission. Earlham first-year Cassie Gage (West Carrollton, OH/Fairmont) made it 2-1 with a goal at 44:33 before Oberlin added its third score. Junior Liz Buehler (Hartland, WI/Arrowhead) had an assist on the play.
After another Oberlin score made it 4-1, Gage found the goal again at 58:15 to close the cap. Oberlin put its final tally on the board just over a minute later.
Junior Anna Benfield (Takoma Park, MD/Montgomery Blair) scored Earlham’s last goal at 64:08 with an assist from sophomore Alexa Gabriel (Silver Spring, MD/Montgomery Blair).
Sophomore goalkeeper Katherine McDonough (Louisville, KY/St. Francis) had 17 saves for the Quakers.
Earlham (2-11, 0-9) entertains DePauw University on Tuesday. The non-conference match starts at 4:30 p.m. Box Score.
