Quakers Fall at Home in Conference Match

RICHMOND, Ind. — The Earlham College field hockey team fell 4-2 in a North Coast Athletic Conference contest with the College of Wooster Saturday afternoon on Comstock Field.
Wooster scored with two seconds remaining in the opening period before the Quakers tied the match early in the second half. Senior Anna Benfield (Takoma Park, MD/Montgomery Blair) scored at 43:06 with an assist from sophomore Cassie Gage (West Carrolton, OH/Fairmont).
Unfortunately for the Quakers, Wooster scored twice to take a 3-1 advantage by the 50:56 mark.
First-year Chrissy Sollenberger (Annville, PA/Annville Cleona) got the Quakers closer at 3-2 with a goal at 64:29. Gage was also credited with an assist on the play. Wooster scored under a minute later for the final tally of the contest.
Junior Katherine McDonough (Louisville, KY/St. Francis) had eight saves for the Quakers.
Wooster had 12-5 edge in shots, but the Quakers were on top 7-6 in corners.
Earlham (1-5, 0-5) entertains Ohio Wesleyan University on Tuesday. The NCAC match is at 5 p.m. Box score.
