LATROBE, Pa. — The Earlham College field hockey team blanked St. Vincent College 1-0 in steady rain on Thursday afternoon as the Quakers won for the second consecutive match.
Senior Liz Buehler (Hartland, WI/Arrowhead) scored an unassisted goal at 44:40 of the second period to provide the Quakers with all of the offense they would need. “It was really a tough game,” Earlham Head Coach Jill Butcher said. “I’m proud of how the team played.”
Junior goalie Katherine McDonough (Louisville, KY/St. Francis) had three saves for the Quakers as in her second straight shutout of the season and third in her career.
Earlham led 10-6 in shots, while holding a 14-1 advantage in penalty corners.
The Quakers (3-8) are at the University of Pittsburgh on Friday. The non-conference exhibition match is at 3 p.m. Box score.
