Quakers End Season at Wooster

WOOSTER, Ohio — The Earlham College field hockey team finished its season on Saturday with a 4-2 loss at the College of Wooster.
After a scoreless first half, the Quakers found the net at 38:56 to take a 1-0 lead in the North Coast Athletic Conference contest. Senior Anna Benfield (Takoma Park, MD/Montgomery Blair) scored with an assist credited to first-year Chrissy Sollenberger (Annville, PA/Annville Cleona).
The Scots responded with four goals to build at 4-1 lead. Sophomore Cassie Gage (West Carrolton, OH/Fairmont) added an unassisted goal at 67:25 for the final tally of the contest. It was the ninth goal of the season for Gage.
Wooster led 18-7 in shots, while the Quakers had a 10-9 edge in penalty corners.
Junior goalie Katherine McDonough (Louisville, KY St. Francis) had eight saves for the Quakers.
For Benfield and classmate Liz Buehler (Hartland, WI/Arrowhead), Saturday was the last match of their careers as the Quakers ended the season 3-12 overall and 0-12 in the NCAC. Box score.
