Head Coach Jill Butcher

Jill Butcher is a 1980 graduate of Indiana State University, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in health and physical education with a minor in mathematics. Throughout Butcher’s time as an undergraduate, she was a starter for the Sycamore field hockey team.
Butcher received a Master of Science degree in 1985 and earned a second master’s degree from Ball State University in 2003. She has been honored twice by the NCAC as Coach of the Year. In 2002, Butcher was named a Sports Ethic Fellow along with famous sports figures Lance Armstrong and Marion Jones.
She serves as the chair of the NCAC Field Hockey Coaches Committee and as Earlham’s assistant athletic director.

Assistant Coach Sarah Bergmann

Sarah Bergmann begins her first season with the Quakers. Bergmann graduated from Drew University in 2005 and received a master’s from the University of California at Berkeley in 2006. She served as the head lacrosse coach at Berkeley High last season.
The Glassboro, N.J.-native was a four-year starter in field hockey at Drew and was a captain as a senior. She earned all-conference honors three times as her team won conference championships four years in a row. Drew also made an appearance in the NCAA Tournament.
Bergmann also lettered in lacrosse at Drew for three years with her team winning a conference title and making the NCAA Tournament as a senior.
