Quakers dominate in record setting match at Franklin

FRANKLIN, Ind. — Although the match was tied early,
the Earlham College women's soccer team finished with a dominating
record breaking performance against Franklin College Wednesday
as the Quakers routed the Grizzlies 8-1.
Franklin tied the contest at 1-1 with
38:59 left in the first half, but from that point on the Quakers
scored seven
unanswered goals to set a school record for goals.
It was also the largest margin of victory in school history.
Earlham led 5-1 at the intermission. The old mark for goals in
a game was six, which had been done four times with the last against
Hiram in 2000. The previous record for victory margin was six against
Bluffton in 1993 and Hiram in 2000.
Sophomore Hailee Carter (Middletown,
OH/Lakota East) had two goals and one assist, while first-year
Maddie Daskovsky (Chicago, IL/Evanston Township) had a pair
of goals. First-year Hillary Carter (Middletown, OH/Lakota East),
sophomore Jen Ruehl (Cincinnati, OH/Seton) and first-year Abi Maycock
(Belfast, ME/Belfast Area) had a goal and
assist each.
Junior Myra Malishenko (Yellow Springs, OH/Yellow Springs) added
the final score of the match.
Earlham out shot Franklin 24-4 and
the Quakers used three goalies with first-year Natasha Kroma
(Marion, IN/Marion) recording the only save.
The Quakers (3-2) return to action
on Saturday at Manchester. The non-conference match starts at noon.
