RICHMOND, Ind. — The Earlham College women’s
soccer team challenged nationally ranked Denison University Wednesday
as the Quakers lost 2-0 in a North Coast Athletic Conference contest
on Matlack Field.
Earlham senior
goalkeeper Kari Wilder-Romans (Ann Arbor, MI/Pioneer) had a dozen
saves against the No. 4 squad in the latest National Soccer Coaches
Association
of America poll. The Big Red (10-2-1) scored on a penalty kick
in the first half and added the final tally in the second period
off a corner kick.
First-year Hillary Carter (Middletown,
OH/Lakota East) had the best opportunities for the Quakers with
two shots hitting the cross bar as the Quakers looked for their
leading scorer, who has 10 goals this season.
The Quakers (6-6-1, 0-4) return to
action at home on Saturday against Hiram College. The NCAC match
begins at
noon. Box
