as Quakers win NCAC match at home
October
15, 2005
RICHMOND, Ind. — Earlham College first-year Hillary Carter matched
a pair of school records Saturday as the Quakers defeated Hiram College 5-0 on
Matlack
Field.
Carter (Middletown,
OH/Lakota East) scored Earlham’s first four goals as she
tied the mark for goals in a contest for the second time this
season.
Carter scored four goals
back on Sept. 27 in a 4-0 win over Anderson University. The Earlham record was
first set by Shoshana Erickson
in a 6-0 victory over Hiram College on Sept. 30, 2000. With her final
tally, Carter
equaled the Earlham record for goals in a season with 14. Lacey Berns and
Erickson had 14 goals each in 1999.
Earlham led 2-0 at
the half with first-year Maddie Daskovsky (Chicago,
IL/Evanston Township) assisting on the first
goal. In the second half, sophomore Jen
Ruehl (Cincinnati, OH/Seton) assisted
Carter on her
third score. Senior Olympia Diamond (Merchantville, NJ/Glen Ridge) had the
assist on Carter’s final
goal. Ruehl added Earlham’s last goal with an assist from sophomore
Hailee Carter (Middletown, OH/Lakota East).
Earlham out shot Hiram 24-4 as
Kari Wilder-Romans (Ann Arbor, MI/Pioneer) had two saves, while recording
her second shut out of the season.
