Late Goal Gives Quakers First Win of Season

Sept. 2, 2006

RICHMOND, Ind. — Emily Roth (Evanston, IL/Evanston Township) scored a goal on a free kick from about 30 yards gave the Earlham College women's soccer team its first win of the season on Saturday on Matlack Field as the Quakers defeated Thomas More 2-1 in the Raven-Quaker Classic.

Sophomore Maddie Daskovsky (Chicago, IL/Evanston Township) put Earlham in front at 34:00 in the first half. Junior Hailee Carter (Middletown, OH/Lakota East) was credited with an assist. Thomas More tied the game in the second half at 51:20.

Thomas More out shot the Quakers 15-11 as Earlham senior goalie Casie Byrd (Bloomington, IN/North) had 10 saves.

The Quakers (1-1) return to action at noon next Saturday at Rose-Hulman. Box Score.
