RICHMOND, Ind. — A second-half penalty kick proved to be the difference on Wednesday as the Earlham College women’s soccer team had its three-match winning streak snapped.
Ohio Wesleyan University defeated the Quakers 2-1 in a North Coast Athletic Conference contest on Matlack Field that started 10-minutes late due to lightning in the area.
Senior Lauren Rosen (Chapel Hill, NC/Chapel Hill) gave the Quakers a 1-0 lead at 31:59 with her first goal of the season. Sophomore Hillary Carter (Middletown, OH/Lakota East) was credited with the assist.
Ohio Wesleyan tied the match on a corner kick at 43:01 before the Bishops scored the game-winner at 52:26.
Senior goalkeeper Casie Byrd (Bloomington, IN/North) had six saves for the Quakers, who were outshot 12-6. Ohio Wesleyan also had a, 8-3 advantage in corner kicks.
