RICHMOND, Ind. — The Earlham College women’s soccer squad battled Manchester College for 110 minutes Saturday afternoon on Matlack Field, but neither team was able to get a shot past a goalie as the contest ended in a 0-0 tie.

The Quakers had a 19-11 edge in shots in the non-conference affair and outshot Manchester 16-5 after intermission. Earlham also had a 5-2 advantage in corner kicks over the Spartans (10-4-1).

Senior goalkeeper Casie Byrd (Bloomington, IN/North) had five saves for the Quakers as she posted her fifth shutout of the fall.

Ironically, the last time the Quakers tied a match was a 1-1 contest at Manchester on Sept. 17, 2005. The last tie on Matlack Field was a 1-1 affair against Mount St. Joseph on Sept. 26, 2004. Earlham’s last scoreless match was at Taylor University on Sept. 6, 2000.

Earlham (7-7-1) is at Denison University on Wednesday. The North Coast Athletic Conference match is at 7 p.m. Box Score.
