Thompson Leads Quakers to Fourth Straight Win

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. — Sophomore Callie Thompson scored two goals and added a pair of assists on Saturday as the Earlham College women’s soccer team won 5-1 over St. Mary-of-the-Woods College.
It was the fourth win in a row for Earlham, which is the most consecutive victories for the Quakers since the 1999 team won four straight.
With Earlham trailing 1-0, Thompson (Louisville, KY/Dupont Manual) tied the score with a goal at 29:05 of the first half with an assist from first-year Karman Duchon (Decatur, GA/Decatur). Thompson gave the Quakers the lead for good with an unassisted goal at 33:47.
Earlham scored three times in the second period to put the game away. Duchon found the net at 75:21 with the assist credited to Thompson.
First-year Rachel Dana (Columbus, IN/North) added an unassisted score at 81:55, while sophomore Faye Rowell (North Vernon, IN/Jennings County) finished the scoring for the Quakers at 82:28. Thompson had the assist on the final goal.
First-year Megan Holthaus (Harrison, OH/McAuley) had three saves for the Quakers.
Earlham led 34-6 in shots, while holding a 10-1 edge in corner kicks.
The Quakers (6-1-1) travel to Manchester College on Tuesday. The non-conference contest begins at 4:30 p.m. Box score.
