Penalty Kick by Thompson Gives Quakers Victory;
Team Ties Record for Consecutive Wins

N. MANCHESTER, Ind. — Sophomore Callie Thompson nailed a penalty kick for the only score on Tuesday as the Earlham College women’s soccer team defeated Manchester College 1-0 to win its fifth game in the row to tie a school record.

Now 7-1-1 overall, the Quakers matched the 1996 team that also won five consecutive contests.

Thompson (Louisville, KY/Dupont Manual) found the net at 69:07 to score her second game-winner of the season.

First-year goalkeeper JoBeth Buckley (Berkley, MI/Berkley) had six saves for the Quakers.

Earlham led 16-5 in shots with a 5-2 advantage in corner kicks.

The Quakers visit Allegheny College on Saturday. The North Coast Athletic Conference match is at noon. Box score.
