Quakers Shut Down Kenyon in Road Victory

GAMBIER, Ohio — The Earlham College women’s soccer team picked up its 10th win of the season as the Quakers defeated Kenyon College 3-0 on Wednesday in a North Coast Athletic Conference match.
The 10 wins matches the total of the 1998 Earlham team, which is the second highest in school history. The 1999 Quakers won 11 contests.
Earlham led 2-0 at intermission. Junior Abi Maycock (Belfast, ME/Belfast Area) scored the first goal at 22:24 with an assist from first-year Lauren Berry (Durham, NC/Carolina Friends).
Sophomore Callie Thompson (Louisville, KY/Dupont Manual) added the second goal at 37:46 with first-year Karman Duchon (Decatur, GA/Decatur) assisting on the play.
Thompson had the final tally in the second half at 76:45 with another assist from Duchon.
First-year goalkeeper JoBeth Buckley (Berkley, MI/Berkley) had nine saves for Earlham.
Kenyon had a 26-10 advantage in shots and led 5-2 in corner kicks.
The Quakers (10-2-1, 2-1) are at Ohio Wesleyan University on Saturday. The NCAC match gets underway at 7 p.m. Box score.
