DELAWARE, Ohio — Saturday was a historic day for the Earlham College women’s soccer team as the Quakers claimed their 11th victory of the season with a 1-0 win over Ohio Wesleyan University.
First-year Karman Duchon (Decatur, GA/Decatur) provided the offense with a breakaway goal 43 seconds into the North Coast Athletic Conference match as the Quakers tied the school record for wins in a season. Earlham’s 1999 squad also won 11 matches.
With the victory, the Quakers are 11-2-1 overall and 3-1 in the NCAC. Earlham has won four in a row and nine of the last 10. The win also moves the Quakers into third place in the conference trailing Ohio Wesleyan (8-4-3, 3-1-1) and No. 17 Wittenberg University (12-2-1, 3-0-1). The top four teams in the standings qualify for the NCAC tournament.
Duchon’s goal was her 11th this season. Sophomore Callie Thompson (Louisville, KY/Dupont Manual) also has 11 goals for the Quakers as the duo leads the team in that category.
