Quakers Play No. 21 Denison

RICHMOND, Ind. — An early goal was the difference on Wednesday as the Earlham College women’s soccer team fell 1-0 to nationally ranked Denison University on Matlack Field.
Denison scored at the 1:58 mark of the first half on a corner kick for the lone tally of the North Coast Athletic Conference contest.
The Big Red had a 16-5 edge in shots with Earlham first-year goalkeeper JoBeth Buckley (Berkley, MI/Berkley) recording seven saves for the Quakers.
With the loss, the Quakers (12-4-1, 4-3) are now in fourth place in the NCAC. The top four teams qualify for the conference post-season tournament, which begins on Wednesday, Oct. 31.
No. 12 Wittenberg (15-2-1, 6-0-1) clinched the regular season championship with a victory on Tuesday, while No. 21 Denison (11-4-2, 4-1-2) and Ohio Wesleyan University (9-4-4, 4-1-2) both won on Wednesday to move into a second place tie in the conference.
Earlham finishes the regular season at the College of Wooster (11-5-1, 3-3-1) on Saturday. The NCAC match gets underway at 1 p.m. Box score.
