Quakers Bounce Back With Road Win

N. MANCHESTER,
Ind. — The Earlham
College women’s tennis team rebounded after dropping a pair
of matches last weekend with a 7-2 win over Manchester College.
Earlham started the match with victories in doubles by sophomore
Kate Unver (Ridgewood, NJ/Ridgewood) and senior Emily Steele (Logansport,
IN/Logansport) at No. 1. Junior Claire Rivron (Bloomington, IN/South)
and first-year Amy Roederer (Fremont, IN/Fremont) won at No. 3.
The Quakers won five of the six singles matches. “It’s
a good win for us to pull one like this out,” Earlham coach
Justin Carrier said. “Everyone that played in a tiebreaker
really came through.”
Unver won at No. 1, while Steele moved up a level to win at No.
2. First-year Birgit Kuba (Vienna, Austria) also played up one
position and was victorious at No. 3. Rivron won at No. 5 and senior
Lydia Hamilton (Bloomington, IN/North) picked up a victory at No.
6.
Earlham (4-6) is back on the road Monday at Wilmington
College. The match starts at
4 p.m. Scoresheet.
