Quakers Take Second Straight Road

WILMINGTON, Ohio — The
Earlham College women’s tennis
team won its second consecutive match on Monday afternoon as the
Quakers defeated Wilmington College 7-2.
Tight action in doubles competition put Earlham in
position to win as the Quakers swept
all three matches.
Sophomores Kate Unver (Ridgewood, NJ/Ridgewood) and Liz Byrd (Richmond,
IN/Richmond) needed a tiebreaker to win 9-8 at No. 1. The No. 2
team of senior Emily Steele (Logansport, IN/Logansport) and junior
Claire Rivron (Bloomington, IN/South)
won 9-7. Senior Lydia Hamilton
(Bloomington, IN/North) and first-year Amy Roederer (Fremont, IN/Fremont)
teamed to win 9-7 at No. 3 doubles.
Following the doubles contests, the Quakers won four of the six
singles contests in
straight sets to put the match away.
Byrd won at No. 2, while Steele took her match at No. 3. Senior
Sue Piotrzkowski (Indianapolis, IN/Scecina) was victorious at No.
5 and Rivron won at No. 6.
The Quakers (5-6) return to the court on Wednesday
as they visit Ohio Dominican. The match begins at 4 p.m. Scoresheet.
