Quakers Win Final Home Match of Season

RICHMOND, Ind. — The
Earlham College women’s tennis team
swept Central State University 9-0 on Friday in the Athletics and
Wellness Center.
Earlham completed its final home contest of the season dropping just
five games through out the match that was moved indoors due to threatening
weather.
Senior Emily Steele (Logansport, IN/Logansport) and junior Claire
Rivron (Bloomington, IN/South) posted an 8-1 win at No. 1 doubles.
Senior Lydia Hamilton (Bloomington, IN/North) and first-year Amy
Roederer (Fremont, IN/Fremont) won 8-0 at No. 2. Earlham won by default
at No. 3.
In singles action, the Quakers had five straight set wins from Steele
at No. 1, first-year Birgit Kuba (Vienna, Austria) at No. 2, senior
Sue Piotrzkowski (Indianapolis, IN/Scecina) at No. 3, Hamilton at
No. 4 and first-year Avery Goldman (New Haven, CT/Hamden) at No.
5. The Quakers won by default at No. 6.
The Quakers (6-7) face Oberlin College on Saturday. The North Coast
Athletic Conference match, which is at Denison University, gets underway
at 10 a.m. Scoresheet.
