Winning Streak at Two for Quakers

RICHMOND, Ind. — The Earlham College women’s tennis team won its second straight match Saturday with a 6-3 victory over Rose-Hulman on the Trueblood Fieldhouse Courts in the Athletics and Wellness Center.
Earlham first-year Rachel Hawkins (Midland, MI/Herbert Henry Dow) beat Julie Hopkins 6-1, 6-3 at No. 2 singles, while junior Liz Byrd (Richmond, IN/Richmond) defeated Mandy Grantz 6-1, 6-2 at No. 3 singles.
Junior Kate Unver (Ridgewood, NJ/Ridgewood) remained unbeaten at No. 4 singles posting a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Katie Zawaoski. Junior Claire Rivron (Bloomington, IN/South) won 6-2, 6-7 (9), 6-3 over Betsy Marschand at No. 5 singles.
Senior Jenn Silver (Champaign, IL/Urbana) and Hawkins won 9-7 over Sam Danesis and Hopkins at No. 1 doubles with Byrd and Unver teaming up for a victory over Zawaoski and Marschand at No. 2 doubles.
Earlham (3-1) plays Ohio Wesleyan University on Thursday. The North Coast Athletic Conference contest match starts at 3:30 p.m. Scoresheet.— EC —
