Quakers Blank Indiana Tech

RICHMOND, Ind. — A dominating performance by the Earlham College women’s tennis team turned into a 9-0 victory over Indiana Tech on the Trueblood Fieldhouse Courts in the Athletics and Wellness Center.
The Quakers won 72-of-75 games on the way to their third straight win.
Senior Jenn Silver (Champaign, IL/Urbana) defeated Ashley Cooper at No. 1 singles 8-1, while first-year Rachel Hawkins (Midland, MI/Herbert Henry Dow) beat Coralyn Thompson 8-0 at No. 2 singles.
At No. 3 singles, junior Liz Byrd (Richmond, IN/Richmond) won 8-0 over Jarmeika Taylor with classmate Kate Unver (Ridgewood, NJ/Ridgewood) taking care of Jessica Saba 8-0 to stay undefeated at No. 4 singles.
Junior Claire Rivron (Bloomington, IN/South) posted an 8-1 victory over Brandi Cassell at No. 5 singles. Sophomore Avery Goldman (New Haven, CT/Hamden) won 8-0 at No. 6 singles over Babie Morin,
In doubles play, Silver and Hawkins beat Cooper and Thompson 8-0 at No. 1. Byrd and Unver defeated Taylor and Saba 8-0 at No. 2. First-year Megan Rahill (Indianapolis, IN/International) teamed with Goldman to win 8-1 over Cassell and Morin at No. 3.
Earlham (4-1) visits Wittenberg University on Saturday for a pair of North Coast Athletic Conference matches. The Quakers face the host Tigers at 9 a.m. and then play the College of Wooster at noon. Scoresheet.— EC —
