Quakers Win Seventh Match

CINCINNATI, Ohio — The Earlham College women’s tennis team got back on the winning track on Wednesday with a 7-2 victory over the College of Mount St. Joseph.

Earlham started the day off with a pair of wins in doubles and then picked up victories in five of the six singles contests.

Seniors Liz Byrd (Richmond, IN/Richmond) and Kate Unver (Ridgewood, NJ/Ridgewood) won 8-5 at No. 1 doubles over Judy Frey and Brittany Teagle, while first-years Rebecca Ogle (Indianapolis, IN/Brebeuf) and Nora Mineva (Pleven, Bulgaria/Lester B. Pearson) beat Laura Robison and Kelly McCarty by the same score at No. 2 doubles.

In singles, Byrd defeated Robison 6-3, 7-6 (2) at No. 1. Unver won 6-3, 6-0 over Frey at No. 2. First-year Miriam Holzman-Lipsitz (East Lansing, MI/East Lansing) beat Teagle 7-5, 7-5 at No. 3.

Senior Claire Rivron (Bloomington, IN/South) won 6-4, 2-6 1-0 (8) over McCarty at No. 4 and sophomore Megan Rahill (Indianapolis, IN/International) posted a 6-4, 6-2 win against Sarah Archer.

The Quakers (7-3) open the two-day North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament on Friday against Kenyon College. The match is scheduled to start at 10:30 a.m. Scoresheet.
