Quakers Open NCAC Indoor Championships

GRANVILLE, Ohio — One school record fell and another was tied on Friday as the Earlham College women’s indoor track team competed in the North Coast Athletic Conference Championships at Denison University.

Sophomore Eirinn Cooper (Franklin, IN/International) set a new standard in the trials of the 800-meter run with a time of 2:25.48 to finish with the seventh fastest time heading into Saturday’s finals.

Junior Allison Blaetz (Palantine, IL/William Fremd) and senior Emma Abernathy (Atlanta, GA/Lakeside) cleared 9’0¼” in the pole vault to equal Abernathy’s mark. Blaetz got over the bar in one attempt to take sixth, while Abernathy made it on her second try and finished eighth.

Senior Sara Bohall (Westport, IN/Columbus East) qualified for the finals in two events. Bohall won her heat in the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 8.86 seconds, which was the second best effort on the day. She also advanced in the 400-meter dash with the third fastest time of 1:00.97.

The championships continue on Saturday with the field events beginning at 10:30 a.m., while the running events start at 2:15 p.m.
