GRANVILLE, Ohio —The Earlham College women’s indoor track team finished the competition in the North Coast Athletic Conference Championships on Saturday at Denison University.

Senior Sara Bohall (Westport, IN/Columbus East) had an opportunity to compete in the finals of two events as an individual and as a member of a relay team. Unfortunately for Bohall, her day began with a fall in the 55-meter hurdles that resulted in a disqualification.

In the next event on the track, however, Bohall was back with a school record in the 400-meter dash. She erased her own mark set earlier this season with a time of 1:00.10 to finish second in the race and earn a spot on the all-conference team.

Bohall then anchored the 1,600-meter relay team that was fifth with a time of 4:24.66. First-year Alison McEmber (Newtown, CT/Newtown), sophomore Eirinn Cooper (Franklin, IN/International) and first-year Rachel Dana (Columbus, IN/North) ran the other three legs in the race.

Cooper had the next best finish for the Quakers taking sixth in the 800-meter run with time of 2:26.11.

First-year Cristyn Wenn (Fairmount, IN/Madison-Grant) was seventh in the high jump with a leap of 4’8¾.”

The distance medley relay team of senior Megan Carter (Lewis, IN/Terre Haute South Vigo), first-year Alison McEmber (Newtown, CT/Newtown), senior Brittany Smith (Ponte Vedra Beach, FL/Paideia, GA) and senior Rebecca Tolmach (Atlanta, GA/Henry W. Grady) finished seventh with a time of 14:06.86.

On Friday, junior Allison Blaetz (Palantine, IL/William Fremd) and senior Emma Abernathy (Atlanta, GA/Lakeside) cleared 9’0¼” in the pole vault to equal Abernathy’s mark. Blaetz got over the bar in one attempt to take sixth, while Abernathy made it on her second try and finished eighth.

Earlham finished eighth of nine squads, while Ohio Wesleyan University won the championship.

The Quakers start the outdoor season at the Hanover Invitational on Saturday, March 29. The event begins at 11:30 a.m.
