Quakers Win Five Events in Anderson Invitational

ANDERSON, Ind. — The Earlham College women’s track team won five events in the Anderson Invitational on Saturday with senior Sara Bohall winning a pair of races.

Bohall (Westport, IN/Columbus East) won the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:04.07, while taking the 100-meter hurdles in 15.38 seconds.

Senior Anna Chatfield (Doylestown, OH/Chippewa) won the 5,000 meters in 20:20.66. First-year Alison McEmber (Newtown, CT/Newtown) ran a 1:03.25 to win the 400 meters, while classmate Cristyn Wenn (Fairmount, IN/Madison Grant) won the high jump by clearing 4’9¾.”

Junior Allison Blaetz (Palantine, IL/William Fremd) set an Earlham record in the pole vault. She finished second with a height of 9’6¼.”

Earlham’s other participants to score Saturday were:
• Senior Rebecca Tolmach (Atlanta, GA/Henry W. Grady), second, 3,000 steeplechase, 13:13.22.
• Sophomore Eirinn Cooper (Franklin, IN/International), second, 800, 2:30.24.
• 1,600 relay team of McEmber, Cooper, sophomore Erin Witham (Arrowsic, ME/North Yarmouth) and Bohall, second, 4:16.54.
• Junior Jessica Kane (Milladore, WI/Auburndale), third, 400, 1:05.95.
• Junior Michelle Crane (Mansfield, OH/Saint Peter’s), third, 1,500, 5:10.78.
• First-year Rachel Dana (Columbus, IN/North), third, 400 hurdles, 1:17.14.
• 400 relay team of Dana, Kane, Witham and McEmber, third, 54.89.
• First-year Caryn Wixom (St. Louis, MO/Rosati-Kain), fourth, 5,000, 21:15.02.
• L.J. James (Greencastle, IN/Greencastle), fourth, shot put, 33’10¼.”
• Dana, fifth, 100 hurdles, 17:94.
• Crane, fifth, 800, 2:33.60.
• Junior Laura Nitti (Portland, OR/Lincoln), fifth, 5,000, 21:15.11.

Earlham finished third in the five-team meet with Goshen College winning the meet.

The Quakers compete in the Indiana Intercollegiate Championships at IUPUI next weekend. The meet gets underway Friday at 4 p.m., while the action begins on Saturday at 10 a.m.
