Quakers finish opening tournament

RICHMOND, Ind. — Earlham’s volleyball squad ended the first weekend with a pair of losses on Saturday in the EC Coca-Cola Classic on Schuckman Court in the Athletics and Wellness Center.

The Quakers were defeated by eventual tournament runner-up Marian College 30-17, 30-22, 30-17. In the fifth place match Transylvania University defeated Earlham 30-20, 32-30, 30-21. “It was a great weekend to see where we are at and what we need to work on,” Earlham coach Natalie Alred said.

Ashley Govro

Earlham’s Ashley Govro (Greensburg, IN/North Decatur) was selected by the coaches for the All-Tournament squad.

Urbana University beat Marian 30-25, 20-30, 30-26, 30-19 to win the tourney championship.

Earlham (1-3) returns to action Tuesday at home against Anderson University. The match gets underway at 7 p.m.
