Quakers pick up second NCAC victory

RICHMOND, Ind. —
Three straight victories on Wednesday gave the Earlham College
volleyball team a 27-30, 30-26, 30-13, 30-24 win over North Coast
Athletic Conference foe Kenyon College on Schuckman Court in the
Athletics and Wellness Center.
After dropping the opening contest,
the Quakers began the road back. “We
started off really slow,” Earlham head coach Natalie Alred
said. “Offensively, we got everyone involved.”
Sophomore
Jessica Whitaker (Indianapolis, IN/Scecina) led the Quakers with
18 kills, while adding 19 digs. Junior Ashley Govro (Greensburg,
IN/North Decatur) added 14
kills, 15 assists and a team-high 21 digs.
Sophomore Kari Schneider
(Cincinnati, OH/Mt. Notre Dame) also had 21 digs
with four service aces. Senior Ajia Coleman (Stone Mountain, GA/Maple
Heights, OH) contributed 10 kills and five blocks, while
sophomore Kaitlin Gentry (Kent,
OH/Roosevelt) added 29 assists. First-year Kathryn Evans
(Milton, IN/Muncie Burris) had 20 digs.
As a team, the Quakers had 95 digs and 51 assists. “Our serve
receive was the best I’ve seen all year,” Alred said.
The
Quakers (6-17, 2-4) entertain Wooster on Saturday. The NCAC contest
starts at noon.
