Quakers avenge a pair of earlier losses to Wilmington
October 20, 2005
WILMINGTON, Ohio —
The Earlham College volleyball team earned a little bit revenge
on Thursday as the Quakers beat Wilmington College 30-28, 30-27,
30-26.
Wilmington defeated Earlham twice this
season before Thursday. “They really hung in there and played
pretty well,” Earlham
head coach Natalie Alred said. “We didn’t always hit
the ball well, but our players made up for that with their effort.”
Sophomore Jessica
Whitaker (Indianapolis, IN/Scecina) led the Quakers with 11 kills.
Sophomore Kaitlin Gentry (Kent,
OH/Roosevelt) had 14 assists, while junior Ashley Govro
(Greensburg, IN/North Decatur) added 12.
Senior Ajia Coleman (Stone Mountain, GA/Maple, Heights,
OH) led the way for Earlham with five blocks and Kathryn Evans (Milton,
IN/Muncie Burris)
had 25 digs.
Earlham
(7-18) visits Ohio Wesleyan University on Saturday for a pair of
matches. The Quakers play the Bishops in a North Coast Athletic
Conference contest at noon and then face Thiel College at 2 p.m. Box
