Quakers Split Matches and Tie School Record

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. — The Earlham College volleyball team split a pair of contests Friday night in the Rose-Hulman Tournament.
The Quakers defeated Rose-Hulman 30-25, 30-14, 30-20 before falling to Centre College 30-24, 24-30, 22-30, 30-19, 15-6 for their first loss of the season.
By virtue of the three-game victory over Rose-Hulman, the Quakers tied an Earlham record by winning 15 consecutive games. Earlham won 15 straight games in 1989, which was part of a 10-0 start to that season. The five-game winning streak that started this fall's campaign is also the best since 1989.
Junior Lisa Vanderkolk (Bluffton, IN/Bluffton) led the Quakers with 12 kills against Rose-Hulman, while junior Jessica Whitaker (Indianapolis, IN/Scecina) had 11 kills and 15 digs. Senior Ashley Govro (Greensburg, IN/North Decatur) added 17 assists and 12 digs and
first-year Keeley McAnnis-Entenman (Portland, OR/Grant) had 11 kills with four aces. Junior Amanda Prewitt (Greenwood, IN/Greenwood) had 18 assists, while
junior Sara Prince (Dresden, OH/Tri-Valley) contributed seven kills.
Against
Centre, Vanderkolk led the way with 17 kills and Whitaker had 10 kills and 22 digs. McAnnis-Entenman (Portland, OR/Grant) added 12 kills. Sophomore Kathryn Evans (Milton, IN/Muncie Burris) had 28 digs, while Govro had 23 digs. Prewitt finished with 32 assists
Earlham (5-1) plays Manchester College at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Rose-Hulman Tournament followed by a final round match against Wilmington College at 2 p.m.
