Quakers Earn NCAC Victory at Allegheny

MEADVILLE, Pa. — A long weekend road trip ended on a positive note on Saturday, the Earlham volleyball team defeated Allegheny College 30-28, 30-17, 28-30, 28-30, 15-11.
Two Earlham records were broken in the North Coast Athletic Conference match. The team recorded 151 digs, while sophomore Kathryn Evans (Milton, IN/Muncie Burris) led the way with a school record 47. “Even though we struggled at times, we kept playing,” Earlham Head Coach Natalie Alred said. “We really fought hard to get the win.”
Junior Jessica Whitaker (Indianapolis, IN/Scecina) had 34 digs, while junior Amanda Prewitt (Greenwood, IN/Greenwood) added 31. Junior Lisa Vanderkolk (Bluffton, IN/Bluffton) contributed 19.
Whitaker led the Quakers with 22 kills and Vanderkolk had 19. Prewitt had 29 assists and senior Ashley Govro (Greensburg, IN/North Decatur) had 27 assists. First-year Keeley McAnnis-Entenman (Portland, OR/Grant) had nine kills and team-high five blocks.
The Quakers (10-6, 3-5) return to action against Berea College in the Earlham College Fall Classic on Friday, Oct. 6. Box Score.
